Roger Hooper
Roger Hooper is a media composer, performer, Casio keyboard product trainer and recording artist residing in the Washington, DC area. He graduated from the University of MD with a Music Theory degree and later worked in the keyboard/digital recording retail scene for many years before focusing on a composing career. Roger has written hundreds of cues for the music production library, Fliktrax, and has had several of these licensed for shows on Sky TV and Discovery: Granny Killer: The Unsolved Murders, Shark vs Snake: The Battle of the Bites, The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, Making the Cut (on Amazon), Killer Cases, A Taste of History, Repair Shop Australia, Sydney Harbor Force (Australian TV), Unexpected, Mysterious Creatures with Forrest Galante.
Roger has scored documentaries for Voice of America featuring Yo Yo Ma, David Oyelowo (as narrator), Elton John, and Sally Field. He was nominated for "best score/short film" at the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema in January 2012 for The Cosmonaut, and for best score at the Machinima Festival 2006 in NYC for Reliant Films gameplay trailer, Battlefield 2142. Two documentaries Roger scored were featured at the 2013 Justice Conference Film Festival, Suzanne Taylor Glover's The Road We Know (from Citygate Films), and the CIY production, Becoming Sons & Daughters (he composed a segment of the film; also scored part of the trailer). The Road We Know also screened at the DocMiami International Film Festival in 2012, and Becoming Sons & Daughters won the award for best U.S. Documentary at the 2012 San Diego Christian Film Festival. Among other notable projects Iinclude We Are the Dead, and award winner for best narrative at the Longleaf Film Festival in 2018, the trailer for The Ville for Zynga Games, music packages for Voice of America's Persian News Network and Africa News Network, Telly Award-winning shorts for PCM Animation Studios, and ID tags for the United Football League.
Roger’s work has appeared on Sky TV, Discovery, NBC, FOX News, CNN and HGTV. He’s also scored gameplay trailers for EA Games, political ads, various promos, commercials, etc. Clients include Citygate Films, Voice of America, Desiring God, Zynga Games, McCarthy Hennings Media, Rosetta Stone, Murphy Vogel Askew Reilly, Green Grass Studios, PCM Animation Studios, HZDG, the Waldorf Astoria, Christ in Youth, Rock Creek Strategic Marketing, Third Story Films, Ed Mitchell Communications, Putnam Partners, Magnus Pearson Media, Vinegar Hill Creative, Bonnemaison Inc. He has also performed solo piano and jazz trio gigs in the DC/Baltimore/Northern VA area, and has taught synthesizer seminars at worship conferences.
